RULES OF ENGAGEMENT
You can plot points of interest to share with others and can put text and links in the info bubble associated with your plot. Before posting something, make sure it passes the OPSEC sanity check. This is the World Wide Web after all. So what should the sanity check consist of? Primarily, ask yourself if the location/information you're providing is something that is relatively common knowledge or not. You can post the location of Area 51 which is supposed to be all super secret (or used to be) because it's common knowledge on the internet. If you answer the first question in the negative then ask yourself another. Can the information be used against us? If it can, then it should be a no brainer that it should not be posted. Posting points that show military aircraft is fine. Linking the images with information that is not common knowlege gets into a grey area. Handing the bad guys great intel on a silver platter is a very serious error and possibly a crime. So think before you plot so we don't have to spend more programming hours making this thing moderated.
Now that the light and fluffy mood has been set, here are some tips to using the imagery module:
- Drag the map around to move locations
- Double click on the map to auto-zoom in (or use the control on the left portion of the map)
- Want to add a point? Click once on the point you want added which sets the coords and then
- Click the "add point" link in the bottom right of the map/imagery
- Leave the "location" box blank
- Type a description (ie "The Doll House")
- You can set the zoom level your point will show up as (17 is a safe bet for imagery)
- You can add text that will show up in a balloon (your comments, links, etc)
- If you don't want to add text - unclick the "display html" box
- You can choose the icon you want to be used or keep the default
- Click save and thanks for sharing
- Any user can edit any other user's points (or delete them)
- Clicking on the point's title or icon will take you right to the point
See something that shouldn't be included? Delete it!
